I was educated at Wellesley College, The School of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Cranbrook Academy of Arts (BFA, painting) and Antioch University Seattle (MA, Psychology).  I've had a private practice as expressive arts therapist in Olympia.  I've taught at New England College, Henniker, NH, The Evergreen State College, Olympia, and various community colleges.

My work has been landscape-based since I was a teenager.  In the Seattle winter of 2004 I spent many lonely nights cruising Mexican real-estate websites, envisioning other lives.  The photos of empty rooms containing only abandoned curtains carry unanticipated symbolisms for me of the lost mother, the hidden female, the tour de force of drapery in every artistic tradition.

I like the compositional challenge posed by extreme horizontality. It amuses me to place a figure, or part of one, into this landscape format; landscape is, after all, the natural home of all creatures.

I show my work in Seattle and Olympia, Washington, and in exhibits around the United States.  I've shown prints in France and will be showing paintings on paper in Queretaro, Mexico in 2007.
